Kawartha Community Foundation is pleased to announce the opening of the Sturgeon Point Community Fund, a new fund supporting the preservation of local heritage and the enhancement of shared public spaces in the Sturgeon Point community.
Supported by the Foundation, with direction from the Sturgeon Point Association, the fund welcomes donations for eligible community projects that help make historic landmarks, parks and recreational spaces safe, accessible and welcoming.
Supporting the Places That Bring Us Together
Sturgeon Point’s waterfront, historic landmarks and gathering places are part of what makes the community special. The new fund creates an opportunity for residents, seasonal visitors, businesses and friends of Sturgeon Point to contribute to their care and improvement.
An early focus is supporting heritage preservation at the historic wharf, where the Sturgeon Point Association is leading efforts to restore the Upper Wharf Rain Shelter. Built in 1903, the shelter has been part of the community for more than 120 years.
The fund’s purpose also looks beyond a single project, providing a way to support future eligible initiatives that benefit the broader Sturgeon Point community.
Local Generosity, Lasting Impact
Through the Sturgeon Point Community Fund, donors can support local priorities while benefiting from Kawartha Community Foundation’s charitable fund administration and donation receipting.
Every contribution helps build the resources needed to preserve valued places and strengthen community life for generations to come.
