George & Marg Clarke Youth Agriculture Award
The George & Marg Clarke Agricultural Achievement Award supports youth in the City of Kawartha Lakes who demonstrate a strong commitment to agriculture, rural life, and community contribution. Established through the Scottish Blend Farm Fund, the award honours a legacy of farming, leadership, and stewardship of the land.
This award is administered in partnership with the Kawartha Lakes 4-H club, recognizing the important role of agricultural youth organizations in developing leadership, skills, and community values.
The Purpose
Application Guidelines

Number of Awards: 2 annually
Value: Minimum $500 per recipient (subject to annual fund performance)
Disbursement: Issued upon confirmation of enrollment in an eligible post-secondary or training program
Presentation: Award presented at the Kawartha Lakes 4-H celebration event

Applicants must:
Be a resident of the City of Kawartha Lakes
Demonstrate active involvement in agriculture, which may include: Family farm experience, Participation in 4-H, Junior Farmers, or similar programs, Agricultural employment or volunteerism
Plan to pursue post-secondary education or training in an agriculture-related field
Demonstrate the following personal qualities: Strong work ethic, Leadership and initiative, Sportsmanship and character, Community involvement and contribution

Completed application form
Description of agricultural experience and involvement
Personal statement addressing:
Background and connection to agriculture
Personal values and leadership
Future goals in agriculture
Impact of receiving the award
Optional supporting materials (refences, resume, proof of enrollment, letters of support, etc.)

Applications are reviewed by a selection committee, which may include representatives from the Kawartha Community Foundation, agricultural community members, and 4-H representatives
The committee will score applications using a standardized evaluation framework aligned with the selection criteria
Final decisions are approved in accordance with Foundation policies
