Community impact begins with people—and grows when we bring them together.
On October 21, Kawartha Community Foundation welcomed representatives from our 2026 Social Sustainability Fund grantee organizations for a breakfast gathering at Launch Kawartha. It was an opportunity to celebrate this year’s recipients, learn about their projects and connect with others working to support residents across Kawartha Lakes.
Sharing Ideas and Building Relationships
The gathering gave participants space to share the work happening within their organizations, hear about other funded initiatives and explore opportunities to support one another.
The projects reflect a wide range of community needs, from food security and mental health to youth development, creative learning and inclusive programming. Bringing these organizations together helps build relationships that can strengthen their work beyond an individual grant.
Organizations represented in this year’s funded initiatives include Kawartha Lakes Makerspace, Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation, New Canadians Centre, The Grove Theatre, BGC Kawarthas, Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kawartha Lakes–Haliburton, John Howard Society of the Kawarthas and Kawartha Lakes Food Source, among others.
Each brings valuable experience, ideas and connections to the communities they serve.
Supporting Local Solutions
Supported by the City of Kawartha Lakes, the Social Sustainability Fund helps local organizations respond to community needs through practical, community-led projects.
This year’s initiatives will help residents access food and information, create opportunities for children and youth, support well-being and strengthen belonging. Behind every project are staff, volunteers and partners working to make those opportunities possible.
The breakfast was a chance to recognize that commitment—and to celebrate the people helping turn funding into meaningful community support.
Looking Ahead
Thank you to everyone who joined us, to Launch Kawartha for hosting, and to the City of Kawartha Lakes for supporting the Social Sustainability Fund.
Congratulations to all our 2026 grantees. We look forward to sharing more about your projects as they develop and the difference they make across our community.
