FENELON FALLS HORTICULTURAL FUND

The Community Foundation has partnered with the Fenelon Falls Horticultural Society, a volunteer organization that has been active in Fenelon Falls for over 105 years, to deliver our charitable activities around horticulture and the environment.

Our goal is to raise funds to support horticultural projects in and around Fenelon Falls, working with many community partners to create beautiful spaces in our community.

Funds could be directed to support the following programs:

  • Beautification – to support development, maintenance and upgrading of horticultural installations within and surrounding Fenelon Falls, supporting projects on public property, Trent -Severn property, museum, fairgrounds, etc.

  • Education – to support programs within the schools, provide speakers, workshops and seminars for members of community; develop signage to support existing gardening projects such as identification of plants; support individuals to increase their knowledge through programs such as the Master Gardener program

  • Youth – to support programs at the Public and High Schools that focus on horticulture and the environment, offering child focused horticulture projects at community events

  • Community – to offer programs that promote quality of life, accessible gardening and horticulture therapy; celebrating beautiful gardens within the community through recognition of great gardens, created by private landowners and by businesses and churches.

  • Environmental Preservation & Restoration – to work with Kawartha Conservation, Trent-Severn Waterway, and Kawartha Lakes to restore overgrown areas and preserve natural areas. Support private landowners by providing resources to help preserve natural areas or return developed areas to natural spaces.

About the Fenelon Falls Horticultural Society: The FFHS is directed by a volunteer Board of Directors that is elected by the FFHS members.  An affiliation with the Ontario Horticultural Association provides leadership and assists in the promotion of education and interest in all areas of horticulture and related environmental issues.
